Later Social Media Publisher Review

Later is a social media publisher that allows users to schedule and publish content across multiple social media accounts. Schedule posts for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Twitter easily on a calendar for as many daily, weekly, or monthly posts that come in your paid plan. It’s easy to use but can cost in the upper levels of social media management and can be time-consuming to plan multiple posts. I used Later for two years, and this is a review of what I’ve thought of Later.

Later’s user-friendly interface, robust analytics tools, and integration with most social media platforms can make it a good choice for managing social media presence from one place more effectively. I started using Later in 2020; I was looking for a social media publisher with the most accessible platform, requiring the least work. I tried several social media planner options back in 2019 but wanted a change in 2020. I decided on Later because, at the time, Later was the most user-friendly for the price. Hootsuite and Buffer would charge extra for different add-ons, so I chose Later. I switched again in 2023, which led me to tell you what I thought about Later.

One of the main advantages of Later is its user-friendly interface, making it easy for users to schedule posts on multiple social media channels simultaneously. Users can upload photos and videos from their computer or mobile device and schedule posts with Later publishing. It offers an extensive range of analytics tools, including engagement rates, click-through rates, and follower growth. It allows users to analyze their social media performance and improve their strategy with various social media platforms, making Later a convenient all-in-one solution for managing social media accounts.

Challenges

Some users have reported issues with Later’s posting capabilities, particularly with Instagram; sometimes scheduled Instagram posts fail to publish at the scheduled time, and there are occasional issues with posting carousels and videos. Instagram’s application program interface (API) limitations can occasionally affect Later’s posting capabilities. For example, Instagram may change its API, which then causes some features on Later to become briefly unavailable. Later’s user interface is generally considered user-friendly, yet it can still take some time for users to learn how to use all its features effectively. For me, the learning curve was pretty quick, I didn’t have much trouble, but I’d been playing with these social media platforms for a year before trying Later. I think overall, it’s pretty user-friendly.

As of 2023, Later doesn’t allow bulk uploading posts, so I’ve switched from using Later. Users can bulk upload images, but once they do, they must add the text individually, select the social media profiles, and then schedule. I was looking for a social media publisher that would allow me to bulk upload images, then edit them within a list so that they can be quickly added without the tedious task of editing the image details and scheduling individually.

Pricing

Later offers a free plan with limited features. To access more advanced features, users need to upgrade to a paid plan which can be high, though compared to other comparable services, the price is just a bit above other social media scheduling products.

Later pricing as of 2023, their Starter Plan includes one user and one social set, 30 posts per month for $18.00 a month, or $180.00 annually. The Growth Plan is $40.00 per month, or $400.00; it includes three users and three social sets: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, TikTok, or LinkedIn; you can only choose three. Their Advanced Plan is $80.00 per month, or $800.40 annually, and offers six of everything. You get six users and six social sets of all six social media platforms mentioned above. I used the Starter plan in 2021 and then upgraded to the Growth Plan in 2022. The difference is that you get additional users and more social sets. As for functionality and ease of use, I thought it was ok. I had to contact customer support five times in 2022, and each time took about two to three days to wait for the response. When I did get the answer, they were fantastic and helpful, but over e-mail, there is no chat option. I’ve switched to a platform that offers bulk upload and posting so that the team member who does the social media posts can post to TryCroatianWines, FinancingSarah, SightingSarah, and any new sites we think up in 2023.
