Digital Nomad Jobs

Digital nomads are growing in popularity all over the world. Some countries even offer digital nomad visas that allow nomads to stay or travel in their country for months or even a year. Regardless of industry, there’s a remote job for anyone whose goals include traveling the world, living in different places, and still earning enough to sustain a comfortable lifestyle. There are so many options to consider when looking into the nomad lifestyle but read on for more insight on how to make it work for you!

Communities like Digital Nomads World, Jobgether, Working Nomads, and Remote OK are  sites that can help you find the right jobs. Fiverr and Upwork are fantastic resources for the more adventurous who want to freelance their way into remote work. I work with several digital nomads who write and edit for these sites and they travel as much as they want while working wherever they are.

Jobs

Copywriting

Copywriters can work from anywhere; find clients by browsing websites and social media platforms of companies that interest you, then contact their social media team and ask for the best way to discuss employment opportunities.

Law Practice

I met a California-based lawyer on a digital nomad visa in Croatia, with her own practice in California while living in Zagreb. She employs an assistant and paralegal in California while she travels the world. With a 9-hour time difference, she was most comfortable with doing her work in the morning and then setting appointments. She scheduled everything, from emails to calls, all so she could maintain a work-like balance while exploring Croatia.

Blogging

Blogging is a great way to make a living online, but it’s crucial to be savvy with sales, marking, and social media to ensure you’re attracting and retaining the right partners to help pay the bills with affiliate links and promotions. Influencers work harder than social media portrays, and there’s a lot of behind-the-scenes work. If you plan on working on blogs or social – invoice your advertisers promptly and follow up to make sure you’re getting paid.

Social Media

Being a social media manager is a  dream job for those who love scrolling. Scour your social media for businesses you like; the ones that lack in a social media presence are perfect for reaching out to. Ask them about their challenges and how you can help them build an audience. As you gain experience, repeat with other socials and brands until you build up a client portfolio.

Web Design and Development

It’s not hard to transition into a remote position if you work in web design or development. If you have experience, you can reach out to local clients who may know of your previous employer and onboard them as your own. Make sure you have some solid contacts before sailing off on your own. Once you build your network, you can offer referrals and keep clients coming in.

Customer Support

Remote chat agents are in high demand by customer support and service teams. You can guarantee a steady employment stream if you have excellent customer service skills and patience. The only challenges involve working and maintaining a constant internet connection across time zones.

Sales, project management, and engineering are all jobs that could be transitioned for a life of travel. If you’re after a digital nomad lifestyle, consider what you’re doing now and how you can mold it into what you see yourself doing. For me, I always wanted to be on vacation. When I saw planes in the sky, I dreamed of being on that plane and going whenever it would take me to see, taste, and explore new places. I knew this life was what I wanted, and as I networked and worked, I worked toward the goal of being location independent in my sales career.
